Fashion Marketing 101
So I thought getting customers for my fashion business is by posting a bunch of my product images on social media and people will buy.
And that’s what I did for almost a year in the past joining those buyers groups and any fashion groups and posting my product images throughout the day but never see any customers coming from it. Because I don’t know anything else.
If you are doing this, you should stop doing it. I promise, this is not how it works and there is a better way…
It takes a little longer for a stranger to buy from you and they don’t buy right away they saw something cool. You should make a path for a stranger to become your buyer.
Before you even think of fashion business marketing, You need to understand how to use each one of those platforms that are available to you.
Most people spend a lot of time deciding between platforms like whether to use Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, blog and there are endless options, right?
On the other hand, people try to be on all those platforms, and guess what? Hello, overwhelm and stress… Yet don’t see any results and worst case they spend a lot on advertising.
There is a better way…
- First, you need to understand how to use each one of those platforms and the real purpose.
- Second, once you choose the basic platforms and goals for each platform, You should work on a monthly marketing stack. This is how you do fashion marketing every month in your fashion business.
By the end of this tutorial, you will walk away with the perfect fashion marketing plan for your fashion business that gives you unlimited profits.
So step 1 is…
Fashion Marketing 101, Choosing the right platforms
So Which one should you choose? Blogging? Youtube? Facebook? Instagram? And on and on…?
Ever wonder, with millions of options on the internet and social media, which platform should you use and what is the purpose of each platform?
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blogging, youtube video, podcast, and the list goes on and on… And the worst thing you could do is try to be on each one of them. That’s the secret of burnout and overwhelm. Or posting the same content on each one of these.
Either way, it’s not really helpful to grow your fashion business or get customers.
Fashion Marketing Layers: Here’s how you should actually go for it…
- The bottom layer is your customers who buy from you again and again. Your ultimate goal in your business is to build one hundred of them. People who are raving fans and buy from you anything that you have to offer. Once you have a hundred people, you can make that number 1000. You should talk to these people like you would with your family and friends and you should know them by name.
- The next layer is your products. Once someone buys your product, your ultimate goal is to get them into your 100 people list. Think of excellent customer support or reward programs and there are no limits. Get creative and make them special.
- The next layer is your freebie. You offer some kind of freebie related to your product in exchange for an email address and your ultimate goal is to make them buy your product. Move them to the inside layer. But this does not mean spamming them and it’s all about building relationships and giving value and promoting your products in a good way. This is where your whole email marketing strategy comes in.
- The next layer is Your main content channel. This could be Blog, Youtube, or Podcast and the ultimate goal here is to get people to signup for your freebie.
- The next layer is your social media channels and the ultimate goal here is to get people to your blogpost or youtube or podcast. Choose one platform per year and nail it and automate it and then move on to another platform.

Once you plan your marketing layers, It’s time for step 2…
Fashion Marketing 101, Get more customers every month.
Anything you do in your monthly marketing should do 4 things…
- Attract people to your brand and it could be social media or blog post or a video
- Engage with people once you attract them to your brands. This could be through emails or Facebook community to talk to your people each day.
- Convert those who engaged with you by selling your products. Maybe with a coupon or limited-time bonuses.
- Advocate, meaning turn them into returning customers and referring other people to your brand by delivering excellent customer service.
Now let’s see this strategy in a bird’s eye view…
- if a person is looking to buy a little black dress and searching on google for it.
- Then they found your post on social media or video like “10 things to look for before buying a little black dress” they clicked on it and read and they loved it. And you give a discount coupon in exchange for their email address. This is the attract phase.
- Once they get into your email list, you send a few emails providing value and giving tips related to your product. This is the engage phase.
- Once you build that relationship and people start to remember you, You create excitement about your products and educate the value of your product and create offers that they can’t wait to buy from you. This is a converted phase.
- Finally, after they became customers, think of them as they came inside your home, how will you deliver that beautiful experience that they can’t wait to come to you again and again. This is all about customer service and this is an advocate phase.
Now the question is do you have a plan to attract, engage, convert and advocate each month?
