What is content and Why is it so important?
Anything you put out there is content.
- The Images you post
- The words you talk or write
- the videos or audio
- emails, social media, messenger, podcast, blog, YouTube etc…
Basically, any word you put out there is communication between your brand and your people. And that communication is the content. Your sales and revenue depend on how you communicate and what message you put out there.
Your content leads a complete stranger to become your customer.
For example:
- Someone saw your post on social media which is content and clicked on your website
- They saw your website and your product images and descriptions which again is a content
- Got into your email list and you follow up with an email which is again content
- and finally made a purchase.
If you messed up with your messages by not putting the right content on their journey, You are losing it all.
Let’s begin with the common mistakes people do when it comes to content, so you can avoid and be ahead of your competition.
But before that, I want to invite you to this free training called, Fashion Marketing Bootcamp where we together work on creating your fashion marketing strategy to unlock consistent revenue. Click here to Join.
Common Content Mistakes for Fashion Brands
Posting once in a while:
Consistency is the key. If you just post once and ghost for a while and then you come back and post whenever you feel like, it may not help. Your platform is not happy either.
Every social platform wants its users to stay longer on its platform.
If you as a creator help that platform by putting consistent content and making people engage, that platform rewards you by showing your content to more and more people.
Which means more visibility to your brand.
Pumping content without a strategy:
Posting just for the sake of posting only drains your energy without any benefit. Every content you put out there needs to have a specific goal like build awareness, engagement or sales.
Wrong messages at wrong phase:
Make sure your people are ready before asking for a sale. What do I mean? when a stranger sees your post on social media, they don’t make a purchase right away.
People don’t buy from you unless they know your brand or saw a lot of reviews about your fashion brand. So stop talking about your products to strangers.
Posting all about yourself
It would be nice to know about your lifestyle once in a while but posting about you every single day has no value to your people.
They were already busy with their lives and are only interested if something is helpful for them or something that’s entertaining.
Think about your favourite show on TV. Every single channel is doing its own shows but you choose your favourite show out of all and cut down other channels.
It’s the same with your people. Every competitor of yours are running their own shows, how do you make your people choose your show out of all?
Asking for a sale all the time:
If you are just posting your products and asking for a sale, What reason do people have to come to you? Do you avoid a salesperson from a mall or go stand near them?
Trying to be everywhere:
Trying to post on every single platform is a gateway to burnout and overwhelm. Instead, choose one platform and focus all your efforts on it. Once you nail it, automate it and move on to the next one.
If you see big brands being everywhere on social media, just be aware they have a huge team and a huge budget. So stop comparing yourself with them.
Action Step: Figure out which mistakes you are making and make a note.
Now let’s move on to what you should post about.
But hang on… If you are looking for a complete fashion marketing strategy for your fashion brand, I would like to invite you for a Free training that I created called Fashion Marketing Bootcamp.

How to create irresistible content every single time in your fashion brand
So you have your content ideas ready to go for fashion marketing, but how do you turn that idea into an irresistible post? That’s what I’m gonna cover in this section.
Every single post in your fashion brand has 3 sections.
- Introduction
- Main content
- Call to action
Let’s dive into each one of these…
#1 Introduction:
You only have a few seconds to grab the attention of your people and your introduction is what hooks them to stay longer and read or watch or listen to the rest of the content.
Don’t waste these precious seconds for good morning or hello or stuff like that. Instead start with a question, problem or desire. But that does not mean any general ones. It has to qualify your ideal customers.
For example:
- Question: Do you love jeans? or How many jeans do you own?
- Problem: How to be comfortable on jeans all day.
- Desire: 5 hacks to make your thighs look slimmer on jeans.
The second phase of the introduction is to tell them what they can expect or benefit from if they stay till the end.
For example:
- Today I’m gonna show you…
- or If you stay till the end, you will walk away with…
#2 Now the Main content:
This is where you provide value for your people. Pick a topic that you brainstormed and think about 3 things or questions related to that topic. and turn them into subtopics.
Example:
- Topic: How to buy a baby frock
- Subtopics: What fabrics to choose, What colours to choose, What style to choose?
Now Just answer these questions to build the main content
#3 Call to Action:
This is where you tell people what to do next.
Example:
- Follow us for more tips.
- Leave a comment if you like it.
- Click this link to…
- Check out our new collections…
- etc…
Action Step:
- Pick a topic
- Create subtopics
- Practice writing a rough version of your post
